Mission Statement

Creating excellence every day through powerful individualized instruction paired with technology to prepare our students to achieve their academic potential.  Our students will become 21st Century learners and successful members of the community.  We will achieve our mission with support of our staff, parents, and the community.

Vision Statement

Creating Excellence Every Day!

Our Values

Respect – We acknowledge one another’s dignity and ideas.  We interact in a courteous way.  We genuinely talk and listen to each other.

Competence – We believe in each other’s ability and willingness to fulfill our responsibilities effectively.

Personal Regard – We care about each other both professionally and personally.  We are willing to go beyond our formal roles and responsibilities as needed – to go the extra mile.

Integrity – We trust each other to put the interest of children first, especially when tough decisions have to be made.  We keep our word.

Attitude – We accept responsibility for keeping our attitudes positive rather than negative.  We are convinced that attitude can make or break an individual or an organization.  We are lighting candles rather than cursing the darkness.

Improvements to the School

Over the next couple of years there is supposed to be upgrades to several of our athletic fields as well as a new roof on the older building to hopefully eliminate leaks.

SWAG (Supporting Warriors to Achieve Greatness)

Our students receive one hour each day to participate in any of the following:  tutoring, clubs, intramural sports, etc.

SIT

We are a data driven school.  This does not mean that we stop listening to input from our staff.  On the contrary, we seek out and welcome suggestions and new ideas if they can improve either student performance or teacher instruction.

Community/Family

West Iredell High School is a school with very strong community ties.  Several of our teachers graduated from West and have returned to teach here.  It is true we are an older school but our facilities have been updated and some of our athletic facilities will begin to be updated over the next couple of years.  We have been around long enough that we have a very strong and loyal community following.  Even within the school, new teachers notice how there is a strong sense of a family connection with students and staff.
